Managing research data effectively has become an essential skill for today’s researchers. To help you navigate the complexities of this area, our university issued the internal policy Research Data Management at Palacký University Olomouc.
Why it matters?
Research data are a fundamental component of research, forming an integral part of scientific activity and validation of its results. Research data management isn’t just a buzzword – it’s the foundation of high-quality, transparent, and reproducible research. Proper research data management ensures that research data are accurate, reliable, accessible, understandable, and potentially reusable. The policy aims to raise awareness of the importance of research data management and establishes a standard baseline for good and responsible practices across the university.
What does the policy offer?
This policy outlines essential principles, requirements and recommendations. It provides guidance for the appropriate and efficient handling of research data and clearly defines roles and responsibilities for the university, its faculties and employees.
To make the policy as understandable as possible, we’ve also developed a range of accompanying resources:
📝 Commented Edition: A detailed guide that provides additional insights into the policy, clarifies key terms and processes and explains topics related to research data management in detail.
🚦 “SEMAFOR”: A simple, user-friendly tool that helps categorize responsibilities using the MoSCoW method (Must, Should, Could). It helps you easily understand and fulfill obligations outlines in the policy.
